Two Australian ports closed

01/Feb/2010

Brisbane (Energy Publishing) - Two of Australia’s coal loading ports were shutdown due to severe weather.

Shiploading was suspended at the Port of Hay Point (Dalrymple Bay and Hay Point coal terminals) around midday 31 January and resumed around 7am today, the Harbour Master said.

While, the Port of Gladstone (RG Tanna and Barney Point coal terminals) suspended shipping movements about midnight 31 January and – at the time of writing – is reassessing whether to resume, according to Inchcape Shipping Services.

Both ports are located in Queensland, but the state’s other coal loading ports – Abbot Point and the Port of Brisbane – have not been affected.
