Utility to switch off coal-fired plant

Major South Australian utility Alinta Energy will idle its 544MW coal-fired Northern Power Station, in Port Augusta, for six months of the year and permanently close its Playford Power Station in a move to become a discount gas and electricity retailer, local media reports.
