China snaps up homeless US coal

Dampened freight rates and cascading domestic coal prices are forcing US coal producers to find a home for their excess product in China, with exports expected to more than double, to more than 12Mt, in 2012, Ernie Thrasher, the CEO of Xcoal Energy and Resources, told Chinese reporters this week.
